Thanks for the info!

Going to Iceland in July for some ice age lake trout fishing, I will post a report on this fishing trip.

Cheers.

Kristinn,

Do you have any advice on where to go for trout fishing in Iceland?

My initial plan was to get the Veidikortid card that allows fishing in 36 different lakes and take the "ring road" to fish some of them.

Do you know of any good, affordable, trout/char river? Where would you get the license for these?

Thanks for your time and thoughts, cheers, Marc.

I would consider sending a private message or contact by the web site. Hard to say if Kristinn is glued to the board. Maybe more an intro post back in Feb promoting and that is fine with me. All are welcome!

Hello

Veidikortid is a good choice but there are also few good rivers that you could fish in while you are here.

I will name a few

1. River Svarta - North West Iceland. Price pr rod pr day is ISK 7500 (appr. €48)
2. River Holaa/Lake Laugarvatn - Trout and Char. Price pr. rod pr. day ISK 3.000 (appr. €20) - South Iceland close to Geysir area, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir.
3. Varma River - Price pr rod in July is close to ISK 12.000 (appr. €7)-Trout, char and sea trout.
4. River Nordfjardara - East Iceland. Price pr. rod pr. day close to ISK 10.000 (appr. - €65) - Char

There are more rivers ....

I can get licenses/permits for you for those rivers if you want

I hope this helps - You just let me know if you have more questions.

Kristinn
