Looking for general advice. Types of species found. Favorite sections of stream. Likes and dislikes. I have yet to float this river and want to do it this weekend. Thank you in advance for your effort!

Here are some options for canoe routes:

Sounds like Ontario to Rockton the most popular.

How many times have you floated? What species have you caught?

I'm thinking way further up. Ontario to Rockton for scenery or Rockton to La Farge if there are some deeper pools.

Guessing father down is completely wide and brown "poo"

I wonder if this stretch is kept clear of log jams? I would guess that one would have to portage a dozen times to get from B.C. to the mouth...

Ontario to La Farge is maintained all year by the KVR/DNR (and the canoe rental places maybe?), and there are no portages along that stretch. It IS truly a beautiful stretch, but expect major crowds on weekends in the summer.

Get south of La Farge just a little bit and it is LogJam City. These are not girly portages, either. These are "drag your canoe and all your gear up a vertical bank and quickly avoid being
drowned at the same" type of portages.

Both Bell Center and Wauzeka have large public areas for land-access to the River. Has to be an interesting mix of species down there.

I bet! You could probably find a 30" walleye, trout, pike and catfish all in the same hole...maybe I should have kept that thought to myself.BigGrin
