Does anyone have any very recent info or predictions as to fishability of Western Dane County, or Eastern Iowa County for this weekend? I don't know that I'll have the time to head much further West than that, and in my experience it can be tougher to find much quick clearing water in Dane County (compared to Richland, etc). Sunday's forecast looks beautiful, but I might have to expend some marital capital to get out for a second weekend in a row, so I'd like to get some confirmation that things might look ok, at least in some of the waters. Any insight would be much appreciated. :)

I have not been down there to be able to give you a scouting report, but this site gives you a basic trend. You can click on the dots and it will give you an idea what the flows are. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wi/nwis/rtHere is a link to Black Earth Creek. http://waterdata.usgs.go...nwis/uv?site_no=05406500Shows that flows were high Sun, Mon, & Tues, and then the melt was mostly finished after Wednesday. I would bet they will be in good shape based on what I saw in Richland and Vernon Counties yesterday.

I fished BEC on Wednesday evening and it was definitely more stained than usual, but not terrible. The water flow seemed a little low to me.
I did have some modest success in the hour I was out. Three browns with the biggest about 14 inches. I didn't see anything rising. The only creature eating anything on the surface was a bat right at dusk.

Thanks for the responses, guys; as it turned out, I didn't end up making it out. I did teach my son how to fly a kite though on Sunday, which was more fun than I had anticipated. I don't think I'd flown a kite since I was about six years old myself (my son will be five next month); a little bit of a learning curve, but we figured it out. Though once we got it flying, my son seemed to be about as good, if not better, than I was at keeping it aloft, ha.

Patrick,
was on your favorite Richland County stream this morning. Had a monster rock me and nearly yank pole out of hand.
Drive a little farther west and leave the busy dane county streams behind.

Ha, I have a guess where you are referring to. Fish shake loose?
