Some good news for a change. A nice article about preservation of land in the heart of the Driftless Area.

Anyone who's ever fished Ofte's property along Spring Coulee Creek know what a tremendous job he's done using rotational grazing to keep the stream and the land in top shape. It's one of the prettier streams to be found anywhere in the DA. I've spent many enjoyable days strolling it's banks and catching Trout.

It is a really nice stream, as is most of the Coon Creek/Timber Coulee complex. I've been repeatedly told by other Trout fishermen that that particular stretch of Spring Coulee is a waste of time, nothing but small fish. But I've had many fine days there, including a 18" Brown caught last year and a Tiger Trout in 2014.
