I am taking grand kids (9 & 11) to Yellowstone this summer (2nd week of July) and will spend some time trying some fly fishing after some Iowa County practice. I have some books on kid friendly streams in the park but am wondering about outside the park. We are staying a few extra days in Paradise Valley on the Yellowstone but figure that may be an area to let them try spin fishing instead of fly fishing. I saw some spring creek possibilities at $100 a day rod fee but am wondering if anyone can recommend some other areas to try. Thanks,

Gallatin River off Hwy 191 inside the park and downstream from there. Easy walking and casting and lots of fish.

Enjoyed my stop at Pacific last June. Water was a bit swift, as everything was still high from runoff, but this would be a great stream to fish with kids later in the year - plenty small and wadeable, plus it's all public. Beautiful place, but everything is out that way.

Thanks, I've fished the Gallatin before. One night there was a huge hatch that I never matched but managed a few before I had to quit because it was really dark. The Pacific looks like a Grampa kind of stream! Grandma the artist will like it too...
