I'll be near Amber, wi next weekend. I've tried the pike before with little success and would love some pointers on general good areas/tactics.

Majority of the water in that area is blown out and flooded right now. Should be somewhat fishable by next weekend provided we don't get any more big rain events. As far as tactics go, your best bet is probably weighted streamers. You may want to consider fishing the North or South Branch instead of the main river though. They will be colder and less dirty, and have more wild fish than the main fork.
