If the cost of a guides license is to be increased, it should be commensurate with the increases of the other licenses.

All I have to say is that I respect the hell out of anyone who could make a living guiding. Aside from the financial aspect of it, there's no way I'd be able to go out and watch people catch fish everyday without picking up a rod myself.

The only people I'll watch trout fish are immediate family that I'm teaching or photographing/taping. Happy to in those instances.

Otherwise... get out of my way or go find your own spot - speaking of buddies. We can chat afterwards.

Being in a boat is completely different of course.

price for in state-$40 and out of state-$100 needs to stay the same as it is now. I guide and if its raised to what some of you are talking about it would be tough to make ends meet for me. My rate at 245 for a full day after gas and other expenses, there is not a lot leftover. my opinion.

Just my opinion, but I think guide licenses should be kept very reasonable; a guided trip tends to bring in a goodly amount of money to the local economy, what with hotels, meals, flies bought from the Driftless Angler, etc. I am no economist, but I view it as a multiplier.

So to be a guide (and you are a resident), all it takes is 40 bucks? no other certifications or insurance?

Yeah you don't even have to know how to fish. If he wanted to even Mike Juran could be a guide.

While playing flooring tile setter at my local fly shop, I brought up the subject of an increase in guide licence fee increase. Every guide supports an increase.

What would their reasons be for supporting such a measure?
