Hey fellas, I just got back from three and half days up on the Brule and the fishing was pretty good. Upon my arrival on Wednesday, the water level and clarity looked really excellent, especially considering all that rain. Though the weather was sunny and warm, the steelhead were active and biting.

Throughout the trip, I managed to hook 6 steelhead and landed 4. Of course, I missed the biggest steelhead of the trip. I was drifting my nymph through a narrow seam when my indicator sinks, and then all of a sudden this huge silver bullet leaps two feet out of the air. All I could do was stare in disbelief as my line went limp.

For the time I was there, the Brule was really crowded. That means people pounding the pools to death so it's important to fish overlooked water. If you're not using a tuck cast, and instead laying your whole rig across the surface of the water, you might as well not show up.

How long of a leader were you using?

I feel like I need to lengthen to 12-15'.
