I'll try to make it over. Hopefully Onalaska is safely iced up by then.

Just an FYI regarding TrapFest...

Like last year, the Snowflake Ski Club will be hosting a junior Ski jump event on the hill next door to the campground on Saturday the 6th. Which means if you arrive early you'll find the bar across the road and the campground building filled with young uns and parents trying to warm up. The crowd should thin out greatly once the sun goes down after 4PM and then we'll have the place to ourselves.

Hopefully mother nature will provide us with some fishable weather that weekend.

If anyone is looking for directions to the Rod & Gun Club Campground, look here. Indoor camping and camaraderie will be in the large (heated!) rectangular building in the photo. The Snowflake Bar (across the road) has plenty of liquor and good food.

Last year was a good time. Hopefully I can make it this year. I learned a lot from Bill and Frick about tying and soon started tying my own. I can't do too many patterns, but most of the fish I caught last year were from my own flies.

Do any of you build your own spinners? My son Gavin is a spin guy and I think he would really enjoy making his own.

Ron makes his - about 100 bucks for the wire bender, and then the parts usually run him 75 cents per lure, but he also re-uses a lot of my Panther Martins when the thin wire gets mangled. He has a few spinner making videos on his YouTube Channel

Jann's Netcraft has wire benders for $80:
Wire forming Tool.
They also have blades, clevises (Clevi), hooks, rings, etc.

Barlow's Tackle also has a nice wire bender:
Bogg's Tacklemaker
They also have full supplies of lure making parts. You'll see you can get this item in several sizes to fit your needs.

Lastly, Lure Parts Online has a couple models, one of them only $26.
