Signed. You'd think we'd learn and realize what an incredibly wide-scale effort it took to restore the Driftless to even a semblance of it's original condition. Sadly, we have not.

Signed as well. Seems like a bad idea for the area.

Proposed hog butchering operation with 700 animals per day. All the water and waste to get transported to Viroqua for treatment in city sewer/ treatment plant.

I agree, it cannot be good for the community. How many jobs to local citizens did they promise to get this to pass?

Locals will not work in that
Imported help will strain schools and all county resources

Exactly. Lose-Lose for Vernon County. SOMEBODY is going to come out all right, so follow the money. Besides the hog farm owners, who in Vernon County stands to profit? There is probably some county corruption going on.

Any further updates on this?

I would hope the locals would see the danger in this mega-farm operation and work to keep it out. I've driven through similar operations in Iowa and they are not pleasant to the eyes or nose. With the limestone geology of the area, large holding ponds of manure are bound to leak into the aquifer and affect Trout streams and drinking water.

It makes one wonder if they would put this to a vote of the residents of Vernon County. It's their county, they should have the primary say in what happens. Foolish me, I know.
