Wow, I wasn't expecting the caddis to be this heavy yet but believe me it was. I'll be posting video soon, until then here are a few pics and the details for the day.

Two questions on that CDC caddis -

A) Is the body olive too, or natural?
B) Do you wrap the olive CDC to make a soft hackle, or tie it in like a wing?

For this particular fly I take a full CDC feather and tie it to the shank just before the hook barb. I tie in the tip of the feather and Palmer it forward until I reach the head of the fly where I’m going to tie in the Elk hair. I tie the feather off with thread and then tie in the wing.

I do tie a similar pattern where I dub the body with dry fly dubbing. Then tie in a single CDC puff to the same length as the elk hair wing then tie in the elk hair wing on top of that. I love both these patterns. CDC is delicate but presents like no other.

I hope this helps. If I get time I’ll come back to this and post how I tie these flies.
