It's such a crazy world that you find a $125 net affordable and I think a $30 net is too much. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I just think it's funny LOL

Also, those fishpond nets will undoubtedly last longer than my junky $16 net and I'm sure they're much much much nicer quality.

I'm with you.

My cheapie does the job and if I lose it, I won't head back to the stream in a panic or organize a search party.

I’d love to buy a net like that, but I’d end up losing it and having it ruin my week.
Actually thinking about making my own wood net as a project this winter, I’m thinking maple but far from decided yet.

I have the Fishpond Nomad Emerger and love it. The rubber basket keeps it mostly tangle free. The handle is long enough to make it easier to land fish, but not so long that it causes problems hanging off your back. It also floats in case it gets away from you in the water.

As someone stated above, a good net is one of the best ways to keep the fish healthy if you plan to release them.

Oh, no doubt. There are a couple things I look for when buying a net. The first one is the net basket, it has to be rubber and have the smaller holes. Some nets on Amazon look like the holes are small, but they get bigger when the fish is in there and it can mean smaller trout will slip through the basket. This can be bad news for the fish as it's now hanging from your fly/lure and you have to wiggle it back through the net to unhook it. The next thing I look for is size, too big and it's a burden, too small and you can't reach the fish or the bigger ones won't fit.

The one I posted is $16 and actually fits the bill. I recommend it if you're just getting into trout fishing and don't want to break the bank ThumpUp

I got the one Ron mentioned simply because it has a bigger hoop and I fish for the whoppers.

Ron if you see this, do you remember what size ghost net or where you got it? I ordered the same net you have.
