Perhaps the rain will stop tonite. Streamer fishing will then be the ticket.

I had a nice afternoon on one of my favorite little sidewalk sized feeder creeks. Water was high but plenty clear to fish. Caught a few gorgeous colored up browns in the 14-15 inch range, but the high and fast water made it tough to fish the cut banks that hold the big boys. Turned a couple of 18-20+ tanks, but they both missed the spinner and wouldnt come back out after the initial pass. Hopefully the bigger waters will clear before the season closes, as the brule is still way above fishable levels and I still haven't caught any 16+ brookies yet this year Won't be a lot of options for closing weekend, but I'll make something happen if it kills me |

My only gripe are those limited options as I feel like I've been relegated to upper portions of small water for the past 8 weeks due to the rain we've been getting. Closing weekend is typically tough for me to narrow my choices from everywhere I want to hit one last time and/or that one new place I didn't get to. Not this year... just looking for fishable water at this point. First world problems and like Shebs says... I'll make something happen. Conditions should improve every day through Monday. Went scouting Thursday after work and found fishable water and even got a couple in about 30 minutes of casting... Took the dog with me for the first time since March and he had a ball and got muddy and wet although he's still not impressed by trout... He did nose out and eat a mouse while I was yelling to him to drop it. And why does he ALWAYS have to be UPstream from me? He'll be staying home during the actual fishing, which begins Friday AM. Took Friday and Monday off and will do 4 straight to close the regular season. Local-ish tomorrow and then my buddy's deer camp in Grant over the weekend and Monday held in reserve for whatever feels right. Pretty jacked for sure. Good luck to all. .
