Hi everyone, new from SE Wisconsin. New to fly fishing, did a little on the Blue River and South Platt in Colorado last summer and thats all it took. Spent a fair but of time still water fishing in local lakes too. Looking forward to start trying local streams this year. Might even grab my buddies 8wt and try for some steelhead! We will see what happens, good luck and tight lines everyone!!!

Welcome, and thanks for posting in the new member forum. Lots of good streams (for trout) right where you are now, but I guess you'll have to go north to Lake Superior or east to Lake Michigan to fish for Steelhead.

Yeah luckily I live about 30” from Milwaukee and I have heard a lot of options down there. Honestly my big goal this year is to get in some smallies. I have no clue where to go for those!

Yeah you have chrome right nearby and probably any week now. I believe you can get a report from the hatchery on the Root in Racine. If not, call a bait shop in Racine or Milwaukee.

Plenty of smallies in the rivers of the north suburbs from what I’ve been told by folks who live there.

Welcome and good luck!
