Long time no post. With few hours at hand I found my way to hay creek to fish the back up of all back up streams. I never cared for hay creeks pasture (pasteurized ?) section so I went upstream from the last culvert on 325. Lots of trees, bushes ans snags to gobble up flies, my kind of stream. The water COLD, I regret I didn't have a thermometer to check, but it was cold and clear. I also found out that you need to have your waders all the way up or there will be a nasty cold wake up call.....there are some deep pools turquoise in color. With in eyesight of the culvert I was catching browns on a size 16 black Beatle, very aggressive hits. I worked my way up to the big pool after the broken train tressle . Lots of very cold water, very clear Water and lots of browns 8-13" all on terrestrials (black ants, Beatles, and spiders). Dare I say I was impressed by this part of hay creek, I will go back for this section.

I know right where you were and had a similar, pleasant, surprise when I was there.

It is a beautiful area down there and I too have found that the growth along the stream bed will swallow you up.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. — John Buchan
