People always suspected that 2Pac was still alive but they all assumed that Biggie Smalls was dead. I finally spotted him the other day while going for some Browns in Dane County. I was standing on the rocks of a 3 foot water fall that drops into a perfect pool. I was going for brown trout because they are the only fish that I've caught in this stream besides one 22" northern. I was using a 8'6" 5wt with 5x leader/tippet and a #12 black wooly bugger with a small splitshot about a foot up the line. I would let it fload into the pool then pull it back up stream. After about 5-10 retrieves, I thought I got snagged on a rock. Turned out to be a big ass Smalley! Because I only have 5x line, I had to run him to complete exhaustion. The total battle took 15-20 minutes, maybe longer. In all, he was around 18"-19" and 3.5-4lbs. As reference, my net opening from the long way is 15.5 inches....he clearly fills all of that up and hangs out. Edited by user Monday, July 15, 2013 7:04:43 AM(UTC)

Very, very nice fish. I miss fly fishing for smallies. Olive woolly buggers always killed them for me.
