Wisconsin has a law that protects sportsmen from interference with lawful hunting of fishing activities. A summary can be viewed here.

A court ruling recently upheld charges based on that law against a landowner who harassed duck hunters in SE Wisconsin.

Any threats of violence (implied or actual) should be reported to local law enforcement.

Be safe.

I'd report him - it's clearly a pattern of behavior, and if he continues to do it, the fines/charges escalate.
It's your right to recreate in public waters - use it or lose it.

Hey Ron, got any corroborating evidence?

"7. Engaging in a series of 2 or more acts carried out over time, however short or long, that show a continuity of purpose and that are intended to impede or obstruct a person who is engaged in lawful hunting, fishing, or trapping, or an activity associated with lawful hunting, fishing, or trapping, including any of the following:

a. Maintaining a visual or physical proximity to the person.

b. Approaching or confronting the person."

I will be in that area in 3 weeks if you need another man to walk the stream.

Even if you don't , it would be cool to actually meet some of you guys in person. I've enjoyed reading all the stories.

video altercation is at the end

After watching this video, you were trespassing. While the Wisconsin law does allow you to exit the stream to avoid obstacles, you have to stay as close to the stream as possible and return immediately. Around the 18:30 mark of your video, you encounter the bridge and take a very wide berth going around it. You actually say “screw it I’m going up here and I don’t even care” and walk over to a path that’s at least 15 feet from the stream. That’s not what the law is intended for, and it seems quite apparent by your comment that you knew you were in wrong. You should change the name of your video to “Trespassing Angler Legally Thrown Off Stream.” It’s cavalier attitudes and actions like this that cause problems for those anglers who do follow the law and raise sportsman/landowner conflicts.

I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the whole video, and AK is right.
I counted at least 2 times when you left the water (before you even got to the bridge) as well - if you wanna put a landowner on blast publicly like this, you gotta be on your Ps and Qs. That means staying in the water unless you absolutely have no choice. I'm not saying this landowner is a peach - and from what I've heard from others, this guy definitely has a history of not respecting angler's rights - but in this case I think he was in the right. We all have our rights, but if you want him to respect yours, you gotta respect his.

Yeah looks like you could have gone right up to the bridge pool at least.

I hadn’t seen the part where you exited the stream.

Guy may in fact be a d-bag, but I’d go ahead and take that video down at this point.

I completely agree with AK here. You were 100% in the wrong and based on what you said and how quickly you left, you knew this. Actions like this and garbage click bait videos such as your's here is what ruins it for everyone else trying to do the right thing.
