Checked two big streams in Richland County and they are blown out.

Won't be able to fish them for 3 days minimum.

Not going fishing today.

Might wander and try to take some photos close to the road.

Len
Mat's ( Driftless Angler )fish report seems to echo that.

Driftless Area - March 28th, 2014
Recorded: Mostly sunny 41 ° F Fishing: Good About half an inch of rain fell yesterday in Vernon county. Heading south and east, there was at least double that amount. Creeks near the shop and to the north are in great shape, slightly stained and clearing!
Fishing was strong yesterday on the usual suspects. Scuds, midges, leeches. Neater temperatures are still chillier than average with most creeks near 40 degrees.
With warmer temperatures, we will continue to see a slow melting of the little snow that is left on the banks. Right around 3 waters will start to rise and get cold. Fishing usually shuts down when this happens.

My carpenter just arrived. He lives near Star Valley and said ALL streams he saw on way here were blown out.

Thanks for the water condition reports ( you guys have my hopes somewhat diminished,) the Old Man is cooking sap sunday so I was hoping to fish Sat Vernon County and south. Possible the feeder creeks have less disturbance from the runoff?

A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work.

Any updates on the stream conditions in the Richland Center area? I'm thinking of coming up tomorrow and staying through Wednesday.

Spent all morning on the road looking for fishable water. The brother and I traveled a route around Durand, Alma, down to south la crosse, and up to the black river/hixton area with no success. Waters were over the banks in many places and even the streams that looked to have regressed were still high and running dark.

We just got back from a weekend of fishing and it was awesome. Had to search for clean water but some of the streams were running gin clear. We fished Richland and Vernon counties.

Fished the Rush yesterday. It was great fishing until the river would start to rise. At first it would be a some grass & a few twigs, then you would see some branches, then logs... At that point you would say to yourself, "I swear when I stepped in, the water level was midway up my calf. Now its above my knees. Oh shi..."

We fished below Hwy. 72 in the morning, and when that started to blow out, we hopped in the car and headed back up stream to find clearer water. By the end of the day, the river was moving at a pretty good clip.
