Josey_Wales and I are heading to the heart of musky country this weekend. I really hope we can put him on his first musky. We have a drift boat and a bonafide musky nut to show us around. The river should be beautiful and hopefully the fish are hungry. We won't be far from where this picture was taken, and the time of year is similar. Almost makes me not care about catching fish, although the day before this picture I caught a 38" from the same spot.

Good luck! I was up there last weekend chasing lake run fish. Color peaked already, but still amazing! Post pics of a biggie.

Thanks Trapper! We will for sure.

caster - Pictures will be posted. Unless it's really hot and heavy, all the pics will be Josey_Wales. I don't even have a usable musky rod right now...

That's a beautiful shot. I imagine there are some nice Smallmouth in there too?

Yes, sir. It's supposed to be a great musky river. I don't know if I've fished a musky river that didn't have smallmouth. A big smallie has no problem taking musky flies either, and they put a hell of a bend in a 10 wt.

Good Luck!

I was up "north" for a couple hours last Sat trying to help put some smallies to bed for the winter and had a surprise muskie decide he wanted my streamer more than I did, so after about an 8 second battle, I lost.

Thanks!

That had to be exciting. Did you manage to find a few smallies too?

I had one nice fish follow, that was it. Weather may have turned them off, or they may have just decided to be assholes like usual. I'm thinking about heading back up to float Nov 2nd though, so hopefully I'll get another shot.
