Wow what great water. Lots of deep pools, would be a good fly spot.

Fish were slow, but had 9 fish on, 5 to hand.

Lotsa water volume and swift. Heavy hatch. Midges, small mayfly type too.

I've only visited it twice, once during high water last year. It's an underrated fishery for sure, some BIG pools on that sucker.

I visited it for my first time on Saturday, talked to couple people who had some luck when I was there. Only had about an hour to fish it and didn't get anything. Hopefully get a chance to try it again soon. I was fishing the stretch right below the dam and the bridge. Were you fishing above or below the lake?

You want to be above Elk Creek Lake. Great water.

I went to school at UWEC and I fished Elk Creek a lot. I have a chance to teach near Eau Claire again here and I might pass on my current job just so I can get closer to this stream. Right on 29 you cross the creek a few times. On that part of the stream there are a few DNR landing spots that are very fun fishing. I enjoyed looking for any and all road crossings along those streams west of 29 and ran across great fishing so many times. Fun stream, man I miss it.
