We're all just going to end up on the same creek.

Not sure where my "guide" is taking me Saturday, but I'm looking forward on getting away for a weekend and hooking some browns.

Will post some pictures when I return.

Best of luck this weekend everyone.

My father and I will be out on opening day in the Richland County area, perhaps into Crawford. If you see a silver (under the coating of dirt, anyway) 4Runner, feel free to say hello!

Then barring severe thunderstorms on Sunday, I may go with my father and my 5 year old son for his first trout fishing excursion in Western Dane County.

I actually like opening weekend; just have to be in the proper mindset. I used to get frustrated about being able to find a spot, or at least a spot I wanted to fish. Now I just focus on enjoying the day, the company, and the tradition -- thinking back to many "opening days" past. Besides, the biggest trout I've caught came out of a Richland County stream at about 6am on the first Saturday of May one year (fifteen years ago now). So I have a bit of a soft spot for the traditional May opener.

I'm looking forward to making more memories this opening weekend, particularly if I can get my son out. It will be pretty special to have the three generational fishing experience.

I think all fishermen prefer to be thought of as crazy.

I have only run into a handful of people opening weekend trout fishing in the last 15 years. 100 yards up or down stream of bridges you will run into people but most don't put the effort in.

I'm doing something way different this year and planning on floating the WI river from Sauk City to Arena. Water levels will be really low this weekend for this time of year.
