Anywhere on the upper Deerskin for brookies, then further down at the canoe launch all the way down to Scattering Rice for browns. It's sand bottom fishing without many riffle run pools. Lots of weed beds and log jams to fish. I've done well with the usual flies, pink squirrels, hares ears, midges, stimulators, hex mayflys, hoppers, smaller streamers, etc. There are many other trout streams but this is right down the road from my cabin and I usually do well there.

Fished the Deerskin yesterday morning. Wasn't a hole lot going on but did get into a handful of little beauties that were eager to hit size 18 BWOs and Elk hairs.
Beautiful day walking a small stream meandering through the Northwoods' Blackjack Wilderness. Can't beat it.

Correct me if I'm wrong...But isn't the Deerskin currently closed to fishing? According to the regs it isn't open for early season.

You're lucky. Keep a regulation book with you.

If you feel like driving down to Oneida county, Bearskin creek holds brook trout.

I'll be back up memorial weekend- so I have a short list of streams just off 45 in both Langlade and Oneida I'll be aiming for. Thanks for the tip, Draik.
