There has been a lot of chatter about the Echo Base Fly rods, and I know Trapper can give an unbiased review of his trout and warm water rods!
They got good rankings in the Yellowstone angler 5wt shootout for 2016 against rods ten times their price, and Hatch Magazine did a nice article on them as well. Hatch Magazine Article

In appreciation for your support of the fisheries of the Driftless, for the month of December, the shop would like to extend 15% off of all Base fly rods to Driftless Trout Angler members. All you need to do is type in promo code dta1215 at checkout and the discount will apply!

The new models (7'6 3wt and 9'6wt) are not available until late next spring, but you can still pre-order one if you like.

I did the math, I believe you can purchase this great Driftless rod, and have it sent to your door for
$100.

With the lifetime replacement, along with a great stick, just do it.(8ft 4wt)

Money can not buy everything, but a decent fly rod for cheap, makes me happy

I was excited about this and still am but was hoping for a 3wt. I'm pretty happy with my current 5 wt and don't really need a 4wt at this point. Anyone know if a 3wt is in the works? Still may jump on this bc that's a great deal!

What is this discount you speak of?

I need a new 3 wt. and the Echo Base is on my radar. After reading what Trapper said, I might go ahead and get one.

Just got off the water and had a chance to throw a friends 8ft 4wt. Having never picked it up I was casting nice loops in no time. Rod loaded very predictably and mended well. Very impressed for a rod under $100

I have one on order after wiggling Trapper's Echo 8' 4 wt Base. Can you folks make suggestions about the best brand/model of fly line for the rod?
