Anyone have a recommendation on a GoPro camera? Black, silver? Hero 3 or 4? Accessories?

I want to be able to capture photos/video of all the trophy suckers and chubs I plan to land this coming year. Plus I want to record some video of the extreme downhill skiing I do (ie. drinking Sam Adams Winter Lager at Mt. La Crosse in the chalet.)

Seriously though, will buy one as a raffle prize for my upcoming TU banquet.

I have a GoPro Hero 3 Silver and it works good. Hopefully Rschmidt will chime in, as he seems to use his way more than I use mine!ThumpUp

WI-fly,
I have the Gopro Hero 3+ black edition and though I've had a few issues with it, It has been an excellent camera. It's takes great under water shots and excellent video. If at all possible go with the Hero 3 series. I have a friend who recently purchased a hero 4 and he has had it in the shop more than he has used it to record video. The lemon law should apply to the Hero 4 line. These camera take a bit of time to get use to, but they kick ass when you want to record memorable moments.

His is some kind of Sony HandyCam, or something similar - he simply used the tripod mount on the bottom with a short piece of threaded rod to mount it through the bill of his hat! Way cheaper than a GoPro lol

I'm sure he can give you more detail when he finds this thread

My friends and I got a few from GoPro early on when we were making ski films in Crested Butte. It's amazing how far they have come in such a short time. I still have to read code and listen to beeps to know what setting I'm on. The new ones have streaming wifi and 4k HD.

Thanks for all the feedback. I went with the Hero 3 Silver, the outdoor activity accessory pack, and a 64GB memory card. Should make someone pretty happy.

The GoPro is nice and you will
Enjoy it. IMO the Sony being splashproof
Mean you don't have to mess with an exterior case. Also sound is better and battery life is better. The best advantage the Sony has is steady shot stabilizing tech. You will have postproduce to clean up Go Pro footage. It's gonna be jerky and panning if,you don't Good choice on 64gb card. That is almost 6hrs at 1080 60p. PM me is you want to chat more of stuff I have learned for fishing and motorcycle mount.
