I was able to get out earlier this week (before winter part II) on a few of my Pierce county favorites and then the next day closer to home. Targeted the natives for the first time this year and got one nicer male and a good number of his minions. A lot of change on this stream since I last visited (almost a year ago), but the best fish were still in the same 3-4 places they always seem to be in.

Also fished for a few hours on a larger waterway that not many people know about and I'm not sure I've ever seen mentioned by name here. You definitely won't see many cars at the bridges here and it certainly doesn't produce many chunky, robust browns.

What's that you say? That looks a lot like the "Rush"? Sorry, never heard of it.

More trout action the next day.

I mean, yeah I like panther martin spinners but I sure wish they would use a more robust wire for the shaft. You catch a nice fish or two and the lure is destroyed. Yes I've used pliers and whatnot to try to straighten/smooth the kinks out, but it never seems to spin quite the same afterwards. Suppose I should figure out how to make my own or stop complaining..

That first photo of the little brookie is brilliant. Great light, great color, great subject. Thanks for sharing!

(No, I'm not jealous of the big browns at all. I just have something in my eye...)

Absolutely love your photos! Looking forward to more as the season progresses. I figure a couple of fat browns like those are a good trade for a new spinner. Drool

Great stuff. What camera are you using? Are you doing anything in post?

Your underwater photos are first rate. Send to Panther Martin! Today I ordered more Deluxe on 25% sale from email. I could not find the gold #4 with orange tail. Weird. Post those on their Facebook page. That's what I did. They are fantastic. We have the same camera still? Panasonic? Half out of water is so cool.

Also I agree with you on the wire. They used to be better.

Awesome photos Dan! I agree, the main shaft wire sucks on Panther Martins but I continue to buy and use them because they are so effective.

NICE! ThumpUp

Quit telling people Pierce County has nice brookie streams, I prefer it when everyone fishes Kinni/Rush and I can have the rest of the county to myself Razz

I have the same issues with the PMs, but they still outfish everything else, sooooo I guess I'll just bend 'em back and buy another stash haha
I was using one of the hammered gold #6 today, and I fished it til the paint came off the body, and caught fish all the way up til my last cast. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's why I'm convinced the body color doesn't matter haha

RSchmidt makes his own spinners, they work pretty damn well as far as I can tell - he uses a heavier wire that doesn't get jacked up as easily. Rumor has it he'll sell you a few for a reasonable price if you wanna give em a try Wink

Here is a link for 25% off through 3/31. Fixed the link in my original post. This seems to work now?
