For those of you who bought the new Echo Base Fly Rod this spring, what are your impressions after fishing with it for awhile? How does it compare to similar med-fast action rods (like the Echo Carbon)?

At $90-$100, it seems like you couldn't go wrong.

I have the 8wt and really like it! Have caught sea trout in Texas and Steelhead here in WI. Itching to get it out for Pike and Musky soon. I really really like the Echo carbon in 5wt and would personally pay the extra few bucks but I haven't casted the 5wt Base only the 4 and 8.

After wiggling yours (That is, your Echo Base 8' 4 weight!), I trooped over to Driftless Anglers and ordered one. I've used it once up by Fennimore, and several times on my local pond, and I agree, it is well worth the funds. It's likely to be my #1 Driftless rod.

I've never been one to be spontaneous about buying new gear. I'll always do my due diligence in research on the product before buying, even if it is only $89.
That is until I came across the discount the driftless angler offered back in December on the Base. I jumped on it (4wt), did my research after to reassure myself, and have been completely happy with my frivolous ways ever since. So much so that the first thing I did after booking my trip to Washington state in March was heading over to The Fly Fisher's and grabbing the 5wt base.
