I sent my son to the meat market in New Albin to buy some no knot fas snaps, which he got, but also came back with some treble hooks darn near as small. What could possibly be the purpose of such a small treble hook. Possibly, micro fishing, but I can't believe there would be enough Tanago fishermen in the area to justify that..... Ice fishing?

Dough bait for stocker Rainbows or for smelt rigs would be my two guesses. Where I grew up in N Michigan, ice fishermen would replace the single hook on a Hali Jig with a #12 treble when pursuing Smelt. They kicked the smelt in the teeth with those rigs. I've never really understood the whole doughnut thing for stockers, given that the holdovers won't take doughbait, but they'll certainly take a crawler...

I'd say it's smaller than a 24!

Nick I've seen stocker rainbows not take my crawler but cannot resist the power bait extra scent for trout. I'm gonna pick some up just to have for the rainbows.

Weird... I guess they get so conditioned to the pellets.
