The latest edition of TU's Wisconsin Trout newsletter featured a story about a new section of easement added to the north fork of the Bad Axe river in Vernon County. This new 1/2 mile section is the infamous "Horseshoe" above the Upper Newton Road bridge. Easements now extend from the bridge to two miles upstream, with the confluence of the Springville Branch.

Funds were secured from TU's Watershed Access Fund and fishermen stiles will be installed for fence crossings at the upper and lower ends.

This came about when an angler discussed with the landowner the streambank easement program. Good relations with property owners reap benefits for all!

EDIT: here's a map of the area showing the current easements, and the "Horseshoe" section (top left).
