Anyone seen any good Black Friday deals for fishing gear?

Cabelas has their CGR Fiberglass Rod for sale for only $49 (originally $129).

Judging by the online reviews, this one is supposed to be a good performer. And at $49, a steal.

One Rod by Sage on sale at Cabelas, and also at The Fly Shack , among other places online. Sage usually is available at a discount at most retailers due to their generally higher cost. I believe Sierra Trading had a great deal a while back on Sage, but I don't see it there now.

This is typically a great time of year to visit or call your local fly shops seeking deals. Most shops are pretty slow in the winter and are looking to reduce their inventories before the end of the tax year. The Superior Fly Angler shop had some terrific deals last year around x-mas time.

Sage stuff goes on sale when they come out with new/updates models. The X has replaced the One as their flagship.

Looks like it's gonna be a CGR party in the Driftless next season. I pulled the trigger on a 3 wt. That. 50$ price tag has been on it since last week(that's when I bought mine), I wonder the reason for the fire sale. Either way I know the rod receives pretty positive reviews for its price so I'm stoked to give it a spin.

I just joined the party. $50 for the rod seems good. I'll see how it does on the stream next year. Picked up the 4wt at 6ft 6 in. Should be a nice short rod for our area streams. I needed something a bit smaller than my 5 wt 9 ft for the small stuff around here. I think this will work well. Thanks for posting about this rod, Bill!

What is everyone using for the reels on these CGR's?
