I made it out fishing for a little while yesterday morning. I didn't have Lady Luck on my side but it was still good to get some practice casts in. It would be good to hear how other people did and what was working for them as far as flies and stuff go.

Here is the link to my report. My Opener

I got out both yesterday and today! Yesterday fishing was slow. A buddy and I got around a dozen between the two of us with most fish coming on scuds. Lots of midges fluttered around but we didn't spot any fish rise.

Today I got out from 930 to 1230 and killed 'em. I landed over 30 fish, all on a pink scud. Nothing huge but one around 14 inches. Fish were stacked in deeper water and the larger fish all came from the back 1/3 of pools. For a rig I used a heavily weighted fly with a scud trailing around 18 inches behind.

Check out my blog post for pics Here!

I got out yesterday late morning, out of the CWD zone. Fished a scud and midge trailer most of the time out (a couple of hours). Ran into one other angler on my way out. Probably caught and released somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 fish in a couple of hours. It turned out to be a colder morning than I had anticipated, but the fish were willing despite the cold weather.

The fishing has been slow which is pretty typical for this time of year. I fished streamers, hoping to sacrifice the numbers of fish for something of decent size. That was not the case though, everything was small and there were a lot of them.
I took the time to find some decent opportunities for pics.

Day two was better. A Driftless Trifecta and a decent brown too!

Nice! My son also hooked into a trifecta on the opener. Brook, Brown, TIGER! His third one and he's only 15.
