Neither west or north of Madison.

It was still high and over the banks but on the way down for sure.

Lots of snow yet in Vernon County. But east of Madison the ground is bare.

lots of muddy water and muddy fields in Dane county this weekend. Found fish and slightly cleaner water near the bigger springs between Mt. Vernon and Primrose.

I actually got shut out for the first time ever on Sunday on my go to, sure thing, never misses stream.

So much for silty high water being no problem for a spin/rap fisherman. BigGrin

I'll get em this weekend!

Played hookie for three hours today from work ..... Mormon coulee is stained in deeper pools, very clear in shallow and riffles .... surprised .... all the run off of snow is on still frozen ground, so not much silt/dirt getting into system on this stream and i suspect others in Coon Valley. when it warms up enough so ground isn't frozen willl be different story. We are due for 4-8" of snow tonite/tomorow and temps dropping into highs in the 20s/30s next week. So i suspect conditions won't change a lot for next 10 days.

Won't post fishing report ..... 16 dinks to hand .... but missed a dandy on the black Fix ....

Fish were eating on Saturday, not overly aggressive but swinging/stripping streamers was decently effective. Nymphing would have probably been more effective. Got schooled by some Wisconsin guys we found on one of the streams my group was fishing. The one guy and I were using the same fly (tricks fix) and he out fished me 5 to 1. Props to norm!

Went down to my girlfriends parents this past weekend south of Madison and a little west of Belleville, snuck away to get a look at some streams in the area and towards mt. Horeb, definitely was mad at myself I didn't bring the rod. Some decent looking water in that area, seen a couple guys out fishing too.

Went out on a SE MN stream yesterday near Chatfield and it was in great shape, almost too clear. Midges hatching mid-afternoon and a few fish rising here and there. Caught 15 or so, most on bead head midge nymphs, a couple on a midge emerger.

Had a little guy (6") get t-boned by what looked like an 18-20 incher, which was pretty cool.
