Is is safe to fish toward the evening in these conditions?

Staying out near Westby/Viroqua this week but it's supposed to be miserable.

The Sugar was at least quasi-wadeable today so that's a good sign.

I know it's entirely impractical, but these tubing and paddling businesses should really restrict what goes down the river with people.

In two hours in Albany I'd guess at least 1,000 people left and there were plenty more waiting when I drove off. That's a lot of litter etc. going into the water.

I will be spending Thursday and Friday in Pierce, Dunn and St. Croix counties fishing trout streams.

I have not paid attention to the weather up there this summer, but are the streams pretty much flowing at normal levels?

I went up last year and had a great time.

Thank you for any responses.

Best advice is to fish early and late to avoid the heat. Trout will be less active mid-day and into the early afternoon anyway, especially if the sun is out. Find a cool place and take a siesta! Breaking your day up into several shorter bits will save you energy and help stave off dehydration. Water temps and flow are excellent for this time of year throughout most of the DA. However, the larger streams and rivers may soon become too warm to fish for Trout. Time to break out the thermometer.

Stop fishing for Trout if water temps exceed 70 degrees. .

Assuming we don't get a deluge between now and then, you should be good. Most everything was fishable or almost ready on Sunday when I was out, so by the weekend you should be good, but keep an eye on the radar this week.

i saw a pod of chubs rising and caught one on a coachman. it went flying behind me as i use barbless hooks. tossed him back in the water and left

I saw a bluegill on a spawning nest on the West Fork Kickapoo near Bloomingdale! I also saw large schools (100+) of some fish I didn't recognize, silvery with a black lateral line. They seemed to be all about the same size, my guess was 10", so not real small. So yeah, the water is warm.
