Catch of the day!

UserPostedImage

Anybody can catch a fish by its mouth. Wink

Dog needed to be taken for a walk, so instead of the dog park, took him to the fish park.

Nice hour and a half "walk." Got six solid browns from 15 to maybe 18 inches. No giants but DANG did they tug. Fish are getting noticeably stronger almost by the day.

I thought that a couple of them must be hogs and I even walked one around a pool to a lower bank only to see that it was maybe 17 inches. Laugh

Too fun.

Love that dog and the bonus fishing! He has a ball out there too.

He's cool in about a million other ways too. Smile

Did lose a fish when he got into my line and it went slack, but no worries coz he's the reason I even got out there today.

Should have rigged up that sucker and dropped it in a hole...

The large fish are definitely getting harder to find and entice on the 4 area streams whose lower portions I have been concentrating on over the past 7 or 8 days..

I believe they are migrating and dispersing.

Took the dog out for a walk and only had about an hour to fish by the time I got out to the stream that I hit. Had 4 strong bites and landed 2 fish.

Despite his kype, I couldn't get 20 inches out of this handsome fella...

Anything 18 and up is a big trout to me, so was very happy.

Also got an 18 incher.

I believe that I may have caught the big fish bug.

Gonna do it again after work tomorrow on a stretch of a lower section that I've never hit before and then I really need to get to a spring creek to change things up.

Well I came across the 5th fish of the season over 18"!

This lady struck in a deep and mildly swift giant hole.

Given the current and vigor of the fish, she actually felt like a brickhouse! I always carry my net tethered to my back, but in the current it was uncannily out of reach. As I fumbled for it, the monster continued to thrash like a sea monster.

A beautiful, fat female brown trout. At first I was thinking she be a 20, but this fish was 18.5" Pushing 4#.

Happy Fishing! Ron

Great pics fellas! Keep 'em coming. I'm "fishing" from my office desk right now. Your reports and photos are keeping me from going crazy.

Full sun? Really breezy? No precip in quite a while?

Sounds like a great afternoon for a small, gin clear, technical stream.

UserPostedImage

Really needed to get to some small water after all the big fish chasing that I've been doing.

Got this nice brown...

UserPostedImage

...one of the best I've gotten out of this stream... out of this little spot...

UserPostedImage

Was casting downstream and retrieving deep, hoping for a brookie to grab it and he darted from the lower left. Actually startled me and then I had him lifted before he could even start fighting.

Got an even mix of brookies and browns - mostly small fish.

UserPostedImage

Had several decent fish dart out and peel off at the last second as they realized the mistake they were about to make.

Was great to get back on small water and this is a favorite small stream of mine.

One last thing... This stream seems to enjoy choosing a new path every once in a while as evidenced by a lot of stagnant former stream courses.

Here's one corner of a section that had a lot of HI...

Another dog walk today.

UserPostedImage

He's not impressed.

Wants to go in after them when they're splashing around, but loses interest once they are in the net or my hand.

Pretty funny today as we're walking along a strait and about 6 feet in front of us, an otter made the dash from wherever it was sitting and across our path into the stream. Dog takes off immediately and would have gone into the water if he hadn't been leashed to my belt.

He about pulled me over and did break the belt off.

Anyway, this worked...

The bite on big water has slowed down considerably, so I thought a leech imitation might be in order. Gonna make a few more.

My craptastic early season has blossomed into a pretty incredible March.
