Here are two videos from a fishing trip I had with my brother on the Au Sable River in New York in 2008. I had been fly fishing for less than a year at this time. I consider them favorites because they capture part of a fantastic day we had together and we live so far apart that we don't get to fish together but every few years.

Someone left this comment on one of those videos, "Hey! Leave those hatchery fish alone! You guys must have just got there after the stocking truck left. The most expensive fish I personally have ever seen, not only from taxpayer dollars but all the fancy Simms and Orvis crap. Where did you find space for your light saber jedi?"

That cracks me up.

Side note: The production of these two videos took forever back then. Carter had a flip video camera, burned me a DVD, and then it took forever to mix it all together in iMovie and upload it. Today, the same process can be done in less than an hour on a smart phone.

I'm a big fan of the guys from Fly TV. They have a show called Fly vs Jerk, which is a northern pike fly fishing competition. Definitely check that out! Otherwise, they post great trout fishing vidoes like this one:

I'm also a big fan of the TV show the New Fly Fisher.

I watch this show also, although it's on infrequently in Milwaukee. I would love to see a midwest version of the New Fly Fisher. Any fishing trip that requires a eight hour jet flight, and then a helicopter fly-in to a $2000/night lodge is unpractical for almost everyone. I also get a chuckle when they show a guy standing at the edge of a raging 100 yard wide river and he says: "Were here at this remote Canadian location to explore small stream fishing tactics..."

This husband/wife team post some of the prettiest fishing videos on the net.

If I were younger (and wealthy) I'd move to New Zealand. Such an amazing place.

Not much else to do during this crappy weather than to watch some YouTube fishing videos.

Here's a fun one of Reverend Peyton, of Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band fishing for warm water species on a southern Indiana river. Although he wasn't fishing for Trout, you might notice that the biggest Smallmouth of the day was caught at the mouth of a cold water spring feeding into the river. At one point the Rev even whips out the fly rod!

The Rev is the most bad ass rhythm and blues slide guitar player in the business. With his wife Breezy on the washboard and Cuz on the drums, they put on a raucous show. Go see em if you get the chance. You won't be disappointed!

There's a lot of great ones out there. The Lee Wulff/Curt Gowdy one was mentioned already, really enjoy that one. Another one I really enjoy touches on golden trout in the Sierra. Makes you want to head to the mountains...
