CRP. We’ve got farmers waiting to get in. Need to increase available acres in next farm bill.

This young gentleman is the newest addition to our family. He did keep me off the creeks last fall, in favor of tromping through the fields looking for birds, but I figured the fish would still be there after pheasant season was over.

Incidentally, I've been wanting to ask you guys who fish with your dog - did you do anything special on the training front? My guy is pretty good about sticking close and checking in, but I'm not 100% sure what he'd do if he sniffed a rabbit or something streamside...

i didn't do anything special, although I probably should. my 9 month old black lab has been out with me about 10 times. he has absolutely no problem staying with me. I watch him if he wanders off a bit(20-40yds away) and he stops and looks for me about every 10 seconds

his problem so far is he wants to chase my fly line and he has to drag every stick out of the stream regardless of how many "no's, heels, treats, and LOUIE'S" I yell at him. honestly though he's pretty young and it's nice jus getting him out with me and experiencing stuff and getting him tired. he'll probably get left at home more as the fishing gets better for the year and it'll get easier working on obedience as the weather improves

Nice looking shorthair.

I’ll take my drahthaar along on a quick walk when I do a little fishing but if I’m Serious I leave him home or in the truck.
He just can’t turn it off when he’s outside and a dog mixing it up with a coon in the middle of a creek doesn’t do you any favors.
