Well that would be fun. And a big bump to the fly fishing industry.

I remember seeing this movie in the theater way back in early 90s when it came out. I thought most of the movie plot to be a bit heavy handed and even dull. But man, those beautiful backlit shots of long elegant casts on that raging mountain river... good stuff.

There is a very nice story about the author of the book in Sporting Classics magazine this month.
In the Fly Fishing section.

A little bit about Norman McLean.

If that were to actually happen, I can see that kind of project falling in line with the film version of The River Why, which really wasn't very good (outside of Amber Heard being in it).

I also don't see anything like this making fly fishing any more popular than what Youtube does.

I agree completely. The River Why was (arguably) written about my "home" river in Oregon, but if not my home river, absolutely about one of the rivers within 70 miles of it. I love that book dearly, and have read every one of David James Duncan's books. The movie was the subject of a lot of wrangling, for lack of a better word, and the result was awful. It deserved a better treatment.
