When I first started out tying flies I went a little nuts and bought up a ton of materials and tied up hundreds of flies. Most of these I'll never use, but they were useful to me for mastering techniques and methods, and getting over the learning curve hump. I'd like to donate some of my excess collection to a worthwhile group, such as disabled vets, or kid fishing programs, if someone would like to take them off my hands. I have seven large plastic boxes filled with a variety of flies, all perfect for Trout fishing in the Driftless Area. None of these are show piece quality items, but they do catch fish and are proven patterns. Each box has approximately 25-30 flies including small bead heads, some small dry flies, bugger and streamers, terrestrials, some jig head patterns, articulated streamers and leech patterns. A perfect assortments for someone just starting out. If you know of legitimate groups looking for donations of flies, please contact me. PM messaging no longer works on the DTA website, but I believe the email link still does. If that doesn't work, just reply to this post and I'll get in touch with you. Also, I'll be around the La Crosse / Viroqua area this Thursday-Saturday (September 27th - 29th) if that works out for you and would like to meet in person. -Bill |

Bill, e-mail sent through this. I'm helping out with Coulee Region TU's Veteran Service Partnership (VSP) and would have a use for the flies with that group.

On a related note, I’ve thought about getting involved in the veterans fishing but I can only find fly fishing and/or taking them out in your boat.
I don’t fly fish nor do I own a boat.
Are there programs for lowly spin fishing? Take a vet in a yak?
Anyone know? |

-Jason I was just thinking about our Vet work with CRTU. Glad Jason connected with you. Bill, in the past your flies have gone to Vet and youth programs. Very much appreciated!! |
