The gnats are everywhere right now including pastures.

You either deal with them or not.

I fished a pasture stream in Iowa Co this AM and got hammered by gnats. Worse than I've ever experienced, typically I can tolerate mosquitoes with a little deet. One of them bit me in the lower lip which is now pretty swollen, it looks like I lost a bar fight.

My question is, any suggestions for treatment of the bite?

Lots of booze. It won't make a difference to the swelling, but you won't care.

Gnats were brutal on the Northern part of the Driftless on my last 2 outings also. So not just the South. Usually it's just gnarly with mosquitoes now!

My personal best trifecta:
- Broken rod
- Fly hook buried in middle of my back that waitress at restaurant had to remove for me
- And hit deer with car on the way home

No kidding, that actually happened during one fishing trip.

Still, it beats any day at work.

I did not.

However, talking that waitress into pulling out that hook was a shining moment. Tipped her well.
