Hey everyone, This Saturday I am bringing my cousin on his first driftless trout outing, last time we went to the black hoof river and had terrible success so I'm hoping this time we can catch some trout and get him hooked. I plan on fishing the Rush creek system due to the easy access and large expanse of water, I think we will focus on pine creek and maybe hike up into Hemmingway creek, we will be fishing all day and putting on some stream miles. Does anyone have any advice on the systems, no honey holes but any other information, like where to start and or the condition of these streams, Thank you!

The Pine and Coolidge Creek area was hit hard by recent flooding - bad enough that some cars were washed downstream from a group camping near the stream. I'm not sure what the fishing is like since.

Show up early if you're going on the weekend. The spot I fished south of 90 (I followed an easement on an as-far-as-I-know unnamed tiny spring creek from a bridge down a big hill and through a pasture to the main water because my first and second choice bridges already had cars at them 15 minutes before fishing hours started) had long stretches without much structure, but the structure that was there (timber, rocks, bank cuts) held fish.

That system is good, but this late in the year, they’re extremely spooky. Don’t fish right in town, that’s a silt trap with all the floods they’ve had.

Rush and Pine are great streams, but I prefer Rush as a primarily spin angler. Fly fishermen will love the big open stretch of Pine you’re discussing.

Thanks guy, I hoping if we get farther into the wooded state forest land well find more fish and less people, I've only ran into 3 people in my whole 3 years of fishing so that never crossed my mind, but if it's bust there is plenty of water nearby!

Thanks for the advice guys, my cousin and I had a great day on the stream and caught quite a few fish. We got in the stream around 11 and got out around 8 but we had fun the whole time and hopefully he'll come back!
